Incineration Festival 2022

Today I attended my very first Incineration Festival, a London based extreme metal festival. The initial line up was crazy but I was disappointed when Dark Funeral dropped out as I really wanted to see them. Despite that there were still loads of bands that I wanted to see. Disappointment came again when it was announced that Heathen Deity were playing the after party and not during the day. I'm getting old don't you know! Let's be clear, there was still a lot to see and much fun to be had.

As happens with most of these all day multi venue affairs there would inevitably be clashes. The timings were reasonable well thought out and with The Black Heart, The Underworld and Electric Ballroom all within two minutes of each other getting between venues was not an issue.

Once tickets had been exchanged for wrist bands the plan had been to go and see Shrapnel at The Underworld but sadly they had pulled out at the last minute for personal reasons. The day started in earnest in The Black Heart with a pint of Camden Hells (it seemed fitting) before taking in some extreme metal......

DAMNATION'S HAMMER (UK)

This was definitely a case of breaking yourself in gently with Damnation's Hammer providing epic doom metal that very much reminded me of Celtic Frost,
